Election History
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, the state witnessed a voter turnout of approximately 73.29%, with elections held in four phases. Among the notable outcomes, Suresh Pujari of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in the Bargarh constituency, defeating Prasanna Achary of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) by a significant margin of 63,939 votes. In Sundargarh (ST) constituency, Jual Oram of the BJP emerged victorious, surpassing Sunita Biswal of the BJD by a substantial margin of 2,23,065 votes.
Similarly, in Sambalpur constituency, Nitesh Ganga Deb of the BJP secured victory over Nalinikanta Pradhan of the BJD with a margin of 9,162 votes. Chandrani Murmu of the BJD won the Keonjhar (ST) constituency, defeating Ananta Nayak of the BJP by a margin of 66,203 votes. In other constituencies, candidates from both the BJP and the BJD claimed victories with varying margins. Ramesh Chandra Majhi of the BJD won the Nabarangpur (ST) constituency, defeating Pradeep Kumar Majhi of the Indian National Congress (INC) by 41,643 votes. Achyuta Samanta of the BJD won in Kandhamal constituency, defeating Kharabela Swain of the BJP by a significant margin of 1,49,216 votes.
